BJP overtakes Congress as largest political party in Rajya Sabha

For the first time during the tenure of the Narendra Modi government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday became the single largest party in the Rajya Sabha. The party has the maximum number of MPs after Sampatiya Uikey was elected and became the party's 58th member unopposed to the Upper House in place of late leader Anil Madhav Dave. Meanwhile, Congress has 57 MPs.
