Calcutta High Court imposes Rs. 5 lakh fine on Mamata Banerjee, judge recuses self from hearing against Suvendu

A fine worth Rs. 5 lakh has been imposed by the Calcutta High Court on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for appealing to remove Justice Kaushik Chanda from hearing her case against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s election win in Nandigram. Calcutta High Court’s Justice Kaushik Chanda also recused himself from hearing the case against Suvendu. The judge said a "deliberate and absolute attempt was made" to affect his decision.
