Centre to borrow Rs 1.1 lakh crore to end GST dispute with states

In a bid to end the deadlock that has been reached due to the differences with states over the GST payment, the centre has decided to borrow up to Rs 1.1 lakh crore. The centre will lend the amount to the states "as a back-to-back loan in lieu of GST compensation cess releases". It was decided in the recent GST Council meeting that the centre was open to exploring all options including moving the SC to end the impasse.
