German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the de-coupling of the economy with China is not the right way to move ahead. Heiko said the European Union describes China "as a partner, competitor and systemic rival at the same time." "In all these three dimensions we need strong, sustainable communication channels with Beijing. De-coupling is the wrong way to go," he said ahead of a meeting with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi.
