China suspends economic agreement with Australia in retaliation to scrapping of Belt and Road infrastructure pact
China has finally retaliated to the scrapping of a Belt and Road infrastructure pact by the Australian government. Beijing has said it has suspended an economic agreement with Australia. The action can also be seen as a response to the Australian government's attempt to undo a deal leasing Darwin Port to a Chinese firm. China's National Development and Reform Commission blamed some Australian officials of a "Cold War mindset".
