China reacted sharply to United States' criticism of Beijing over the spread of coronavirus after US state secretary held China responsible for making the pandemic situation worse, during the QUAD meeting. "We once again urge US to abandon its Cold War mentality and ideological prejudice, stop unprovoked accusations and attacks against China and treat relations with China in a constructive manner," the Chinese embassy in Japan said.
