In a major land scam, the CID investigated suspicious land registrations which exposed that poor people have purchased very high-priced lands. Nearly 797 white ration card-holders each with a monthly income of less than Rs 5000 were found to own 761 acres of land worth Rs 220 crore during 2014 & 2015. The CID sent a letter to IT dept stating the deals were mostly in cash transactions & could have easily evaded tax payments.
