US Senate approved Deb Haaland's appointment in the Joe Biden cabinet. Haaland was named Secretary of the Interior after the confirmation by the Senate by a vote of 51-40. She has now become the first Native American to become a cabinet secretary. 60-year-old Haaland hails from New Mexico's Laguna Pueblo tribe. Haaland became one of the first two native American women who got elected to US Congress in 2018.
