Demonetization effect: Unemployment in India touched 45-year high

In 2017-18, the unemployment in India has reached a record high in the last 45 years, according to the Periodic Labor Force Survey. This is the first survey on employment by any govt agency after the 'Demonetization' in 2016 November. The unemployment among rural men and women jumped up to 17.4% and 13.6compared to 5% and 4.8% in 2011-12. In the urban area, it reached 10.5% and 17.3% compared to 3.5% and 9.7% in 2011-12.
