Ecuador protests against cuts amid pandemic

Thousands of people came down the streets in Ecuador to protest against the government's economic response. Streets of capital Quito were flooded defying restrictions aimed at containing the virus. Last week, the president had announced measures including closing down state-owned companies and cuts to public sector salaries. Around 37,000 cases have been confirmed and more than 2,000 people have died in Ecuador.
