Election Commission seized Rs. 1,000 crore liquor, cash bribe in assembly polls this year

The Election Commission revealed that the security agencies seized liquor worth Rs. 1,000 crore, cash bribe and other articles during the ongoing polls to five assemblies and by-polls to some seats in 2021. This marked a jump of four times in illegal inducements from 2016 polls. According to a report by the election body, the maximum Rs. 446.28 crore was seized in Tamil Nadu, followed by Rs. 300.11 crore in West Bengal.
