Hardening its stance in the ongoing face-off with microblogging platform Twitter, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad told the parliament that the government will take strict action if social media is used to spread fake news and violence. However, Mr. Prasad accepted that social media "has empowered common people. Social media has a big role in Digital India program."
