In a first, a Sikh Airman Harpreetinder Singh Bajwa was granted permission by the United States Air Force to maintain his beard and turban during his active service. Bajwa has said that he feels his country has finally embraced his heritage and that he would be indebted forever for this opportunity. Bajwa joined the Airforce in 2017 but could not follow his religious practice due to strict military codes of conducts.
