India extended its support for Cyprus at UNSC while expressing its deep concern over Turkey's move to open the ghost town of Varosha. Varosha, once a very popular resort town, was abandoned after Turkey invaded Famagusta in 1974. Turkey's invasion of the Mediterranean island led to the division of the country into two- the Republic of Cyprus and the northern Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is only recognised by Turkey.
