India's ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Singla appointed as the new Foreign Secretary

India's ambassador to the US Harsh Vardhan Singla has been now appointed as the new Foreign Secretary. Shringla is a 1984-batch IFS officer and will take over the charge of the foreign secretary on January 29 i.e. a day before Vijay Keshav Gokhale's 2-year term ends. Shringla had served as ambassador to Thailand and a high commissioner to Bangladesh before taking up as ambassador to the US.
