Lok Sabha passes Citizenship Amendment Bill with 311 votes

After a day long war of words between Home Minister Amit Shah and the Opposition, Lok Sabha passes Citizenship (Amendment) Bill with 311 votes in favour of the bill and 80 against. Amit Shah in his concluding remarks in Lok Sabha said NRC is coming. This bill seeks to give Indian nationality to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. BJP in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls promised to amend this bill.
