Make way for the Bullet train, 53,467 Mangrove trees to be cut down: Government

To make way for the Bullet train, 53,467 mangrove trees in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat will be cut down. The data was presented at the Rajya Sabha by Union Minister of State for Environment, forests and climate change, Babul Supriyo after CPI(M) MP Ritabrata Banerjee inquired whether 54,000 Mangroves will be cut down for the Bullet train. The ministry said they would do reforestation in designated lands.
