Modi's note ban gets first taste of success

The Central Board of Direct Taxes announced that there had been a 25% increase in the number of income tax returns for the current fiscal year, with over 2.79 crore returns having been received up to 5 August as against over 2.22 crore returns filed in the corresponding period last fiscal. The Finance Ministry attributed this growth to the demonetization move and Operation Clean Money.
