Within the first 50 days in his second term in office, the Modi government has spent approximately Rs.8,500 crore on the acquisition on weaponry systems including missiles and spares for the Indian Army and the Air Force. After the Pulwama attack, the central government had given emergency powers to the three services to purchase whatever equipment is required of their choice for safeguarding the border with Pakistan.
