Panchayat Bypolls of J&K postponed for three weeks over security issues

Bypolls to panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir which were to be held on March 5, have now been postponed due to security reasons. This was declared by J&K Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shailendra Kumar. The by-election had more than 12,500 panchayat seats and was scheduled to be held in eight phases. He also further added that he had received inputs by the home department regarding the critical security issue in the region of J&K.
