PMO asks Finance Ministry to reassess issuing foreign currency overseas sovereign bonds

The PMO has asked the finance ministry to reassess the concept of assigning foreign currency overseas sovereign bonds. PMO asked them to seek wider consultation from stakeholders before proceeding with any plans. Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier told during her budget speech that India would look to issue overseas foreign currency sovereign bonds, which has been criticised by ex-RBI heads, economists & BJP allies.
