Sri Lankan authorities blocked social media platforms WhatsApp, Facebook among others on Monday following the anti-Muslim riots due to a social media post across various towns in the latest fallout from the Easter day suicide attacks. Christian groups attacked Muslim-owned shops in Chilaw on Sunday expressing anger over a Facebook post by a shopkeeper. The Securities tried to disperse mobs, but they spread to nearby towns.
