Punjab cabinet approves excise policy for next fiscal, target to mop up Rs. 7,002 crore

With a revised target of mopping up Rs. 7,002 crore as against the current year's expected revenue of Rs. 5,794 crore, the Punjab cabinet approved the state excise policy for 2021-22. The revised projected target marks an increase of 20 percent. The excise department is eyeing an additional revenue with an increase in the quota (minimum quantity to be sold by a licensee) of Punjab medium liquor by 12%.
