SC gives RBI 6 weeks to examine & report Whatsapp Payments data localisation necessities

The Supreme Court reportedly gave the RBI 6 weeks to examine and report whether WhatsApp Payments has fulfilled its data localisation requirements and also asked the government to clarify its position on whether the company’s grievance officer should be based in India. Whatsapp Payments was put on hold in May 2018 RBI had asked to set up an office in India, appoint grievance officer & form a team in India.
