SC refuses to stay implementation of CAA, will hear pleas in January

In a major development in the Citizenship Amendment Act, the Supreme Court has refused to stay the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. The decision was passed by a bench including Chief Justice S A Bobde, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant. The apex court said it will hear all the pleas on the act in January. The court sent a notice to Centre on all 59 petitions and it will hear the pleas on Jan 22.
