Socialists retain power in Portugal election

Portugal PM António Costa’s Socialist Party has won the country’s general election but has failed to gain an outright majority, as per the exit polls. The Socialists (PS) earned 36.65% of the vote, ahead of the centre-right Social Democrats (PSD) with 27.9%. The PS, who has governed for the last 4 years with 2 smaller hard-left parties, will get 106 among the 230-seat parliament, 10 seats short of a majority.
