Strike against proposed Colombo port deal with India called off by workers

The strike that was launched by 23 trade unions in Sri Lanka against the proposed Colombo port deal with India was called off on Sunday following a meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. A memorandum of understanding was signed between India, Japan and the previous Sirisena government to develop the ECT which is located just next to the $500 million Chinese-run Colombo International Container Terminal.
