Suhail Shaheen named Afghanistan's UN ambassador by Taliban

Suhail Shaheen, the Doha-based spokesman of the Taliban, has been named as Afghanistan's UN ambassador. Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi wrote to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, to make the request to speak during the annual high-level meeting of the General Assembly. Ghulam Isaczai represented the Afghanistan government at the UN before the Ashraf Ghani government was ousted by the Taliban.
