Winter's power demand in Delhi touched an all-time high on New Year's day: Discom

A Discom spokesperson said the peak winter power demand in Delhi touched an all-time high of 5343 MW on new year's day when the minimum temperature as 2.4-degree celsius. The heating load was the main reason behind the increase in power load during winter and constitutes over 40% of the total power demand. The peak power demand for winter months in BRPL & BYPL was 2256 MW and 1148 MW, while in Tata Power areas, it was 1581 MW.
