UN Chief says sanctions on Iran won't be imposed without Security Council's nod

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has made it clear that the global body will not comply with US demands to reimpose sanctions on Iran until the body receives approval from the UN Security Council. "Security Council has taken no action subsequent to the receipt of the letter of the US Secretary of state, neither have any of its members or its president," Guterres said in a letter addressed to the council president.
