UP government bans all strikes in state by invoking ESMA

The Uttar Pradesh government has banned strikes in all state government departments, corporations and authorities for a period of six months by invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). The decision came after central trade unions called a nationwide strike on Thursday. A notification regarding the act was issued by the Additional chief secretary, appointment and personnel, Mukul Singhal.
