UP woman who accused Chinmayanand of sexual assault withdraws rape charges, to face perjury charge

A female law student who had accused former BJP minister Chinmayanand of sexual assault withdrew her allegations before a special MP-MLA court in Lucknow on Tuesday while disowning her earlier statement. The woman said that she had never accused the former Union minister of raping her. Irked at her statement, the prosecution sought action against her for perjury and moved an application under Section 340 of the CrPC
