US House passes bill to boost defence co-operation with India

The US House of Representatives has passed a $696 billion bill which sets military policy and sanctions spending for the Department of Defense (DoD). The bill contains a provision proposing boosting cooperation with India in the sector. Indian-American Congressman Ami Bera introduced the India-specific amendment which was passed as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2018 through a voice vote with overwhelming bipartisan support.
