US names Hizbul Mujahideen as Foreign terrorist group

The United States named Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation, after adding its chief Syed Salahuddin to its list of designated global terrorists. The US also imposed sanctions on HM including the freezing of assets it may hold in the US. This designation will be welcomed by authorities in India. The HM is one of the two most active Pak-based terrorist groups operating in J&K.
