Uttarakhand Panchayat: Cannot Contest in Panchayat elections if have more than 2 children

The Uttarakhand Assembly passed a bill that barred people having more than 2 children from contesting the panchayat elections. The bill will soon get the Governor's nod before Panchayat elections that are scheduled later this year. The purpose of the bill was to promote family planning and also determine a minimum educational qualification for the candidates, said Madan Kaushik, Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
