In order to cut down on expenditure, sportswear giant Adidas has followed Nike in the decision to not make bats, batting pads and gloves and outsource their manufacturing to a third party. Since sales of bats and soft cricketing equipment does not match the cost of sponsorship of bats for top-level cricketers, these companies are now only sponsoring apparel and footwear for cricketers for sustainability.
