The Sports Ministry has suggested 9 names all of them being women for the Padma awards in 2020 for the first time in the history of Indian sports. Badminton player P V Sindhu, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, table tennis player Manika Batra, T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, former shooter Suma Shirur, mountain twin sisters, Tashi and Nungshi Maliki are some names. The selected winners will be announced on 26th Jan 2020.
