England defeated South Africa by an innings and 53 runs on the fifth day of the third Test and took a 2-1 lead in the 4-match series. England had declared on 499 for 9 before bowling out South Africa for 209 & 237. Keshav Maharaj (71) and Dane Paterson put up a (39 not out) 99-run last wicket partnership. A 200-run partnership from Ben Stokes (120) and man of the match Ollie Pope built the foundation for the victory.
