As the explosive batter helped RCB defeat Rajasthan Royals comfortably, former West Indies captain Brian Lara couldn't help but praise skipper Virat Kohli for encouraging Maxi. Lara said that Maxwell was struggling with his form in 2019 and 2020 and it looked like his IPL career was over, until he got a call from Kohli.
