Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy in remand over four counts of rape

Benjamin Mendy, a part of France's 2018 World Cup winning squad, has been taken in remand and he will be produced before Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday. "Benjamin Mendy, aged 27, has been charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault," Cheshire Police said. Mendy has been booked over complaints by three complainants over the age of 16. Manchester City has suspended Mendy amid the pending investigation.
