Marcello Lippi steps down as China coach

China will now look for a third coach this year after Marcello Lippi, the 71-year-old Italian World Cup winner, resigned from his China coaching job after the damaging 2-1 loss to Syria in World Cup qualifying. Lippi had quit the post in January when his compatriot Fabio Cannavaro took over. But Cannavaro lasted only two matches. The veteran Italian again returned in May, but his second spell lasted only 6 matches.
