Olympic champion and world mile record-holder Peter Snell is no more. He was 80. Snell, who is known to be one of the greatest middle-distance runners, won the 800 meters at 1960 Rome Olympics, and the 800-1,500 double at 1964 Tokyo Games. He was the first male athlete since 1920 to bag the 800 and 1,500 gold at the same Olympics. No male athlete has done it since then. He also won 2 Commonwealth Games gold medals.
