Tim Paine played through the pain as he guided Australia to retain the Ashes urn against England. Despite the series ending in a draw, Australia won a series for the first time in England since 2001. However, captain Paine revealed that he played with a broken thumb till the final Test at the Oval, which the visitors lost. Paine said that the thumb is not displaced, which is a good sign and will get back to action soon.
