Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep could have been the latest big casualty at the Australian Open but the fourth seed held on to her nerves. The last year’s Wimbledon champion beat Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last 16 on Saturday. Serena Williams and reigning champion Naomi Osaka have already lost on Friday and second seed Karolina Pliskova became the third victim early on Saturday.
