Spanish driver Carlos Sainz wins Dakar Rally for third time

Spanish driver Carlos Sainz won the Dakar Rally for the third time, wrapping up with a convincing winning margin in the first edition of the event in Saudi Arabia. The 57-year-old managed to cross the line in the 12th and final stage 6 min 21sec ahead of nearest rival and reigning champion Nasser al-Attiyah of Qatar. Stephane Peterhansel was third. Sainz had previously won Volkswagen in 2010 and Peugeot in 2018.
