India's leading telecom company Airtel has joined hands with US chipmaker Qualcomm for introducing 5G services in the country. Airtel will be using Qualcomm's 5G RAN platforms to introduce and open RAN-based 5G networks in the country under the deal. The deal comes at a time when the government is keeping a strict eye on Chinese firms including Huawei that were once the frontrunners for unrolling the technology here.
