A study shows that an estimated 2 million cyber attacks in 2018 resulted in over $45 billion losses worldwide as governments struggled to cope with ransomware and other malicious incidents. Other important losses were from cyptojacking or hijacking a computer or network to generate bitcoin. It also came due to fraudulently taking over business email credentials. About $8 billion losses were due to ransomware attacks.
