Facebook holds faulty configuration changes" responsibe for global outage

Hours after Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp went down globally, Facebook said the outage was caused due to the "faulty configuration changes" made to its routers. "Our engineering teams have learned that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers caused issues that interrupted this communication," a blog post by Facebook read. The outage lasted nearly 6 hours.
