Facebook researchers develop AI software to detect deep fake image and trace their origin

In a major success, researchers at Facebook have successfully developed an AI software that is capable of identifying a deep fake image. “Our reverse engineering method relies on uncovering the unique patterns behind the AI model used to generate a single deepfake image," Research scientists Xi Yin and Tal Hassner said. The tool can also be used to ascertain whether a series of images originated from a single source.
