All-time heat records are expected to be broken in Alaska as a huge area of high pressure gains its strength over the Anchorage region. This heat dome can produce temperatures beyond the highest values ever recorded, especially in southern parts of the state. Anchorage is predicted to cross its highest-temperature (85 degrees Fahrenheit in 1969) on 5 straight days from July 4-8. It could even reach even 90 degrees.
